On June 17, Beijing-Xiong’an Bridge, a key and difficult project of Beijing-Xiong’an Expressway constructed by Shanghai Civil Engineering Co,.Ltd. Of CREC, set a new record for the longest single span of Beijing Bridge and laid a solid foundation for the opening of the Beijing section of Beijing-Xiong’an Expressway within the year.
Beijing-Xiong’an Bridge is located at the intersection of Yongding River and Beijing-Xiong’an Expressway, with a total length of 1.62 kilometers, of which the east approach bridge is 410 meters, the west approach bridge is 690 meters, the main bridge is 520 meters, and the main arch spans 300 meters. The main beam of the bridge is 48 meters wide and will carry two-way eight-lane traffic in the future.
Beijing-Xiong’an Bridge adopts space special-shaped curved surface structure, which is light and transparent. The arch ribs on both sides gradually change from quadrilateral to Pentagon from bottom to top and rise in a spiral twist. At the same time, the two arches lean inward to the center of the bridge, and the arch top is connected by wind braces in the shape of a "Chinese knot". This landscape design requires higher processing and manufacturing technology for steel arch rib and main beam. The project team carried out several critical technical research. It formed a set of full-process processing accuracy control methods suitable for special-shaped curved steel structures so that digital technology runs through the processing and manufacturing process and ultimately ensures the accuracy of bridge alignment.
The Beijing section of Beijing-Xiong’an Expressway, invested by CREC, is 27 kilometers long. It starts from the Fifth Ring Road in the southwest of Beijing in the north, crosses the Yongding River, Fangshan Metro Line, and Jingshen Road in the west, turns southward, crosses the Sixth Ring Road, and continues to extend southward to the city boundary connecting with the Hebei section of Beijing-Xiong’an Expressway. By the end of 2022, the Beijing section of the Beijing-Xiong’an Expressway will be opened to traffic from the Sixth Ring Road to the city boundary. After opening the Fifth Ring Road to the Sixth Ring Road this year, the Beijing section of the Beijing-Xiong’an Expressway will be fully opened to traffic. Starting from the South Fifth Ring Road in Beijing, it will take 60 minutes to reach Xiongan New Area, saving about 30 minutes. Now, 98% of the projects from the Fifth Ring Road to the Sixth Ring Road have been completed.
