On May 11, Wuhan Guanggu Air Rail, the first suspended air rail train in China, built by China Railway Electrification Engineering Group and China Railway Hi-Tech Industry, started its trial ride.
Air rail, namely "suspended monorail train", is a new medium and low-volume rail transit system. Its body is suspended under the track beam and flies in the sky, called "air train". It has the advantages of not occupying the ground and strong environmental adaptability.
Optics Valley Air Rail Train has a fully automatic driving function; the whole train can view 270 degrees, with large opening side windows and transparent viewing windows on the carriage floor, bringing passengers a new experience of moving the "glass trestle road". The train runs at a maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour and can be flexibly marshaled between 2-6 carriages, each accommodating up to 200 people.
China Railway Electrification Engineering Group is mainly responsible for all professional equipment system installation, joint commissioning and testing, fully automatic operation consistency coordination, vehicle base, and other Guanggu Air Rail Project projects.
China Railway Hi-Tech Industry undertakes the manufacturing, installation, erection, and commissioning of track beams, steel columns, movable core turnouts, large-span bridges, beam-column connection devices, and other facilities along the whole line of the Optical Valley Air Rail Project. Among them, the self-developed suspended movable core switch has the characteristics of high reliability, strong adaptability, smooth control, energy saving, and environmental protection, which realizes the stability and reliability of the suspended track line and fills the gap in this field at home and abroad.
